Climate Action is happening all over the world! Citizens are marching in cities, and watching as a young woman from Sweden takes on the global leadership at the UN to make real commitments in taking action

This movement is a global imperative AND it’s a local movement. This is why we’re so excited to host our upcoming Climathon Honolulu Hackathon in October. We realized some people might not be familiar with the Hackathon concept behind this event, so we wrote an explainer here.

TL;DR: we’re gathering the community together for a full-day of solutions building on October 26, and we’d love for you to get involved. Event registration forthcoming!

Hawaii’s Changing Ocean

THURSDAY, October 3, 6:30PM-8pm: Mark Hixon is one of the most cited scientific author on coral-reef ecology in the US. In this talk, he will summarize the many gifts our ocean provides us, describe human-caused threats to our coastal ecosystems, and review solutions he believes we must implement. Presented by the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and the Hawai‘i Community Foundation. Learn more and register here.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY, October 10-11. HANOCON, from the Hawaii Alliance for Non-Profit Organizations (HANO), is the largest annual gathering bringing together nonprofit professionals–as well as sector allies, supporters, and advocates – to network, learn, share ideas, and collaborate. Learn more and register here.
