Hawaii Kai Location Taking Office Reservations

October 1, 2019

If you’re looking for a new office in Hawaii Kai, this is your chance. We’re currently taking reservations for our Hawaii Kai office and coworking space, scheduled to open March 2020. This is the first coworking space in Hawaii Kai, and gives those on the East side of the island the opportunity to join a vibrant community of connection and innovation without having to drive into town. If you need office space in Honolulu, we currently have a few offices open at our Kakaako location, too.

The Impact Hub Hawaii Kai location is approximately 7,200 square feet, and is on the second floor, which gives our members awesome views of the marina. This location will have coworking desks and tables overlooking the water, private meeting rooms of various sizes, phone booths, multiple private office spaces of various sizes, and a communal kitchen. And it will have our unique and fun approach to design, so expect lots of art and colors.

We recently hosted a Wefunder investment campaign to raise funds to build out this space, and we’re excited to bring an Impact Hub location to Hawaii Kai, to continue our mission of helping businesses do well and do good. Co-Founder George Yarbrough says of the new location: “I’m excited to co-create a space for community and business in Hawaii Kai. I grew up in Hawaii Kai and I have fond memories of that area. I’m happy to be able to participate and be a part of the community again.”

Our goal is to open multiple locations across the islands, yet our expansion took us to Hawaii Kai first. “We chose to expand to here because it was the community that approached us first and showed immediate interest. It can also help reduce or eliminate the need to commute to town for those living in East Oahu,” says George.

Office holders and unlimited members will have access to BOTH Impact Hub locations with one membership, so you can choose to work in town or in Hawaii Kai as your weekly schedule dictates. All Honolulu and Hawaii Kai members are also eligible for the Impact Hub Global passport, giving you three days of coworking at Impact Hub locations around the world, and gives you access to our growing collection of local Member discounts.

If you want to learn more about the offices, pricing, and placing a reservation, or if you have other questions, please contact us here.

Our Wefunder campaign is now officially closed, and we are SO happy with the amount of time, energy, and money you invested in us.

Over our three month Wefunder investment campaign, we raised$172,354, which will be utilized for the final buildout of our new Hawaii Kai location, slated to open in March 2019.

Our overall goal for both of our locations (and anything we build in the future) is to help you do what you do best, and to support our growing network of entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses. Thank you for being a part of it! You can still see the campaign details here if you want to learn more about why we chose Wefunder or about their innovative investment model.

Stay tuned to our Instagram and Facebook to see the buildout as it happens and share your thoughts as we complete the space.

One Week Left to Invest in Impact Hub HNL!

July 30, 2019

By Nam Vu

Over the past two months we’ve been surprised and delighted with the amount of support that our friends, Members, and partners have shown for our Wefunder investment campaign.

Not only did you invest $150,000 into our growth, you supported us via social media, by telling your friends, by coming to our Hawaii Kai location sneak peek event, and so much more. All of your support tells us we’re on the right path towards building a more interconnected Hawaii with our new locations. These new locations will help us expand our network of resources for entrepreneurs, startups, freelancers, and the broader business community, fostering #StartupParadise here in the islands. Thank you for being a part of it.

We have just about a week left on our Wefunder campaign – so this is the crunch time. If you have not yet been able to invest, now is the time to do so. We are grateful for any level of investment you can offer (the minimum is $100). The funds will be used to build out our new Hawaii Kai location and beyond.

If you cannot invest at this time (or if you want to give us some additional help), please help us out by posting on social media to let other people know about the offering. Tap the following message onto your favorite social media platform, be sure to tag us (@ImpactHubHNL), and help us get the word out about our big plans.

Invest in Hawaii’s largest coworking space! @ImpactHubHNL is raising funds on Wefunder, and the goals are💥BIG💥 (11 locations across the islands 🌴 with 1 membership! ✅) Anyone can invest in a more interconnected network of Impact Hubs– learn more:http://bit.ly/impacthubhnl 💰

Thanks so much for your ongoing support of our team and our community!

Hawaii Kai Sneak Peek: Check out our New Location!

July 17, 2019

On July 11, Members, friends, and the Impact Hub Honolulu’s team came together at Liko’s Tap & Tavern at the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, and over beers and vegan tacos we got to see the first glimpses of the newest Impact Hub location in Hawaii Kai.

The Impact Hub Hawaii Kai location, projected to open in March 2020, is approximately 7,200 square feet, with collaborative marina-view coworking, meeting rooms of various sizes, communal kitchen, and several private office spaces on the second floor, overlooking the water.

As the new location is very much under construction at this time, visitors were reminded by our Co-Founder George Yarbrough to wear our ‘imagination goggles’ to see the bright future of our newest location. Of the new location, Co-Founder Anne Weber says, “Our vision is an interconnected Hawaii where one membership gives each member access to 11 locations across the islands and 100 existing Impact Hubs worldwide.”

We are raising the funds to build out this location with our current Wefunder investment campaign; we’ve currently raised about $150,000 to be used for this new location. If you are interested in investing, click here to get started!

Thanks to those who came out to share in this momentous occasion. Check out all the pictures from our event here in our gallery:

Member Spotlight: Meghdad Abbaszadegan of Startup Grind

June 4, 2019

Today we’re sharing a Member spotlight featuring Meghdad Abbaszadegan. He’s the local Director for Startup Grind sponsored by Google for Startups. He’s coordinating an event next week featuring Jiwon Moon from Wefunder (the company we chose for our campaign). We chatted with Meghdad about his work with Startup Grind, his entrepreneurial background and about the coming event.

Click here to register for the event: Impact Hub HNL Members get a $5 discount with code: impacthubmember

What is your background and history – how did you get into your current role as a director for Startup Grind?

Back in 2014 I built a company in Phoenix, Arizona with a mission to create connected, collaborative communities; the project failed due to co-founder conflict, however, I got in contact with amazing organizations such as Startup Grind Phoenix. The local chapter helped us feel like we were part of a family. I was able to meet like minded people who are still to this day some of my closest friends. When I moved to Honolulu, I was surprised that there was no active Startup Grind chapter. So I decided to start one and give back to a community that gave so much to me.

Tell us more about Startup Grind: this organization promotes itself as ‘We are the community for the world’s entrepreneurs.’ – What does that mean for you as the director, for the Honolulu chapter, and for the global movement?

Startup Grind is the largest independent startup community with over 500 chapters across the world. We have hosted amazing speakers like Clayton Christensen (Innovators Dilemma), Scott Cook (Intuit), Jessica Livingston (Y Combinator), Ben Horowitz (Andreessen Horowitz) and more.

We believe our values have brought us this far. Relying on these values, I want to create a community where new ideas are generated and people are inspired to build meaningful projects together.

Tell us more about the events you’ve hosted here in Honolulu and the coming event with Jiwon. What are the goals and ideas we’re focused on and what can people expect from this event?

This chapter was inactive for two years, so this will be our first event. We want to document the process of entrepreneurship and highlight those who are active in the community. We love good stories that will inspire positive action in others. Our goal is to educate people on what it takes to build successful companies; ultimately spreading the entrepreneurship bug around leading to more inspiring stories.

We couldn’t have asked for a better speaker than Jiwon Moon for our first event. She is the Head of Community at Wefunder, running Workaway here in Hawaii! She has has hosted fireside chat with likes Nate Blecharczyk (Airbnb), Holly Liu (Kabam), Siri Srinivas (Draper Associates) and more via her accelerator XX.

We will be hosting Jules Sukhabut on July 18th. Jules Sukhabut is the Founder & Management Consultant of TeraVault, a boutique software development firm operating in Honolulu and Cebu. He has had multiple successful technology exits. He was a co-founder of OrderDynamics, an e-commerce SaaS platform and order management system. On May 2013 the company was acquired by eCommera, and acquired a second time in 2018 for $13.4 million by Tecsys.

Thanks, Meghdad, for sharing your thoughts! We’re looking forward to these coming events!
